Your Skin Care Routine Can Benefit From Sea Salt
Have you ever wondered why your skin seems to clear up when you visit the beach? The salty ocean breeze, cold sea water (Northern Cali living), and warm sun always make for a glowing skin day after for me.
One of my favorite ingredients to use in my beauty routine is sea salt. Not only is sea salt one of the main ingredients in some of the exfoliating body scrubs that I make for Irie Body, but sea salt can be used in beauty routines for your hair, nails, and face too.
Where is it from?
Sea Salt is a mineral commonly harvested in the North, Mediterranean Sea, and Atlantic Ocean. This kind of salt is produced by evaporation and still contains the beneficial minerals derived from the clay lining of body of water.
What makes it so good?
Historically used to heal wounds, sea salt contains 82 trace nutrients from the sea water it’s extracted from. Some of the nutrients include sodium, chloride, potassium, calcium, magnesium, copper, and zinc. These elements are essential to maintaining healthy skin.
How it’s beneficial for you!
Some of the ways sea salt benefits you include:
-improves blood circulation
-detox body through pores
-anti-inflammatory
-exfoliating promoting skin cell renewal
Sea Salt + Beauty Routine
You can use sea salt in hair care in the form of a spray for beach waves or scalp treatment. Soaking your nails in warm sea salt is used by some to strengthen nails. I have used sea salt on acne to draw out deep impurities. My favorite ways to use sea salt are to add some to a warm bath to soak in the minerals and in body scrubs to exfoliate and tone my skin in the shower.
PSA: Some grains of sea salt can be larger than others, so be sure not to harshly scrub your skin with sea salt. Also, even though sea salt heals, don’t use it on open wounds (unless you don’t mind stinging sensations).
Try sea salt in one of your beauty routines! Of course you can try one of our fantastic body scrubs that contain skin smoothing sea salt!
