What's the difference? Part 2: Vegan vs. Cruelty-Free Skin Care
And without further ado...here is the second part to our blog series defining some important skin care terms. Now what is the difference between vegan & cruelty-free skin care?
Vegan products are ones that are comprised of ingredients which are free of animal product or by-product. For instance, soap made with tallow (also known as animal lard) would not be considered vegan as it is an animal product. Beeswax is considered an animal by-product. Just like how people choose to follow a vegan diet or not, you can choose how vegan you want your skin care to be. There is a wide range of skin care products ranging from vegan to non-vegan (still including natural ingredients) Life is all about those choices!😃
Cruelty-free skin care products are ones that are not tested on animals. Testing products on animals is widley practiced in commercial product production (especially in other countries). This is not so commonly practiced with indie brands of skin care. This practice of testing on animals does not give animals a choice to undergo such procedures.
Almost all of our Irie Body™ skin care products are considered vegan. The only products that would not be vegan are any that include beeswax. ALL of our products are cruelty-free. 🐝🐕🐇🐳
